Kathie Lee Gifford was the host of the fourth hour on TODAY alongside Hoda Kotb, from 2008 to April 5, 2019. Entertainment Weekly lauded the Gifford and Kotb show as "appointment television" while USA Today called it TODAY's Happy Hour. The year 2014 was the year that Gifford wrote the highly acclaimed TODAY the Musical featuring the hosts and crew of the show.
